Everything can be found there what is a dream of a keen skier – many various ski runs and the only one all-year-long iceberg in Austria. No wonder that a valley of Ziller river has won many international rewards. Here there are six winter centers – Fügen, Zell am See, Kreuzjoch, Gerlosstein , Finkenberg or famous Mayrhofen. Those who are passionate about skiing can use 671 km runs and almost 200 ski lifts. It is said that Zillertal is “the most active valley of the world”.
One ski pass Zillertal SuperSkipass (€215 for an adult per 6 days) enables you to use all slopes. A free of charge shuttle bus takes you wherever you want to ski. There are gentle slopes where trees shelter them from the wind. There is a famous run called Harakiri which inclination can reach 78% in some places. Vans Penken Park in Mayrhofen attracts freestyle fans. Those who like freeride should visit Hochfügen between 2nd and 9th of February 2013. Black Mountain Big Mountain will take place just here where freeride champions compete to gain some points for World Cup. According to Skiesort.info portal Hintertux is the best iceberg commonly visited by Poles and skiing national teams. Even though conditions are perfect the first chairlift only started here in1949. Earlier Hintertux village was full of patients who used thermal springs. The iceberg had reached a hamlet then. Since that time it has oved 500 meters up and it has been in a permanent movement. Visiting Nature Ice Palace (Natur Eispalast) located 200 meters below the pick of Hintertux can provide anyone an unforgettable impression. In a very narrow crevasse where you go down the moveable ladders you can see icicles and frozen waterfalls. Nonetheless the best attraction here, are the ski runs. Gletscherbus 1 cable car takes skiers to Sommerbergalm. Here you can take Glescherbus 2 cable car and get to Tuxer Fernerhaus (2600 m above sea level) and to start out to Glescherbus 3 at 3200 m above sea level or take a new 10 person cable car and be a little bit lower at 3033 m above sea levels. The runs on the iceberg are not considered to be easy ones but they attract skiers as a magnet due to the incredible view of the woods around which glisten in the sun of mountains over 3000m high.
