Even though that Tatras are not too high mountains they can compete with the Alps. The Slovaks prepared a lot of conveniences for a winter season for example: new ski lifts, skiing schools, plenty of snow cannons, free of charge parking lots at ski lift stations. The most important investment this year is a connection of north and south Chopok slopes (2024 m above sea levels) by modern 24 person and 15 person cable cars. You can use all seven biggest Slovakian ski resorts having one electronic pass Slovakia Super Skipass.
There are 108 km of runs, 29 cableways and 67 ski lifts. The cost of an all-season ski pass and a pass to Aquapark Tatralandia is € 390 this season. If you are bored with Chopok you can go to Štrbské Lake (Štrbské Pleso) or to Tatranská łomnica. A six person car with a heated couch will take us to Štart an intermediate station and later to Skalné Pleso (1751 m above sea level) and finally to the top of Lomnica (Lomnický štít 2634 m above sea level). There is a beautiful Tatra Mountains panorama from the peak. The Poles feel at home in Ski Bachledova where they remember one of Bachledas’ from Zakopane ski feats. The capital of Polish Tatra Mountains is located 40 km from there. There is an artificial automatic snowing system in Bachledova Ski. Most of the ski runs have got north slopes so the ski season lasts very long. A daily ski-pass is €22. There are several ski lifts, one of them is for children only and there are two cableways. If you want to finish the winter sport in a nice way you should visit Slovak thermal springs – Aquapark in Dolný Kubín or a very famous Tatralandia in Liptovský Mikuláš. In December 2012 a Tropical Paradise in the shape of a shell was opened in Tatralandia which is a perfect place for relaxation. It reminds of Caribbean. In Gino Paradise in Bešeňová guests can enjoy artificial waves and a view from a 35 m high observation tower with its six slides.
